Moving off Wix and other builders

Move your site off Wix, and leave the fiddly bits to me

Builders are cheap, but every tweak and setting takes your time. I’ll move your site across and look after it, with bookings included, for less than a builder and booking system together.

Fair’s fair

Builders aren’t bad. They’re just a lot of work.

For a quick, simple page, a builder can be the right call. The trouble starts when your website has to keep up with a real business, and you’re the one doing the keeping up.

Where builders work well

  • Cheap to start, with a free plan to try things out
  • Quick to get a simple page online
  • Plenty of templates to choose from
  • Fine if you enjoy tinkering and have the time
  • Design changes take ages

Move one section and something else shifts, often on the mobile version you didn’t look at.

  • There’s a lot to learn

Editors, layers, apps and settings. It’s hours of tutorials before you feel at home.

  • SEO settings are buried

Page titles, descriptions, image text and redirects live in different panels, and it’s easy to miss one.

  • Quick changes aren’t quick

Swapping a line of text is fine. Anything more, like a new section or a seasonal offer, eats an evening.

Quick design changes

Send a message. That’s the job done.

New photos for the season, a section for your hot tub, a better layout for your rates. On a builder, each one means finding the setting, fiddling with it and checking it hasn’t broken the phone version.

With me, you send over what you’d like and I make the change. Basic updates are included in every plan.

Adding a new photo and section

On a builder

  1. Find the right setting
  2. Watch a tutorial
  3. Make the change
  4. Fix the mobile layout
  5. Check every page
  6. Publish

With me

  1. Send me a message
  2. Get on with your day

Consistent and uniform

A site that looks like one site.

Builders make it easy to add things and hard to keep them matching. A new page here, a different button there, and over a couple of years the fonts, spacing and colours drift apart. Guests notice, even if they can’t say why.

I design your site as one system. Every page, button and heading follows the same rules, so it stays tidy however much we add.

Three buttons from three pages: mismatched after years of edits, beside a set that follows the same rules.

Strong SEO foundations

SEO done properly, not buried in a menu.

Builders do have SEO settings. They’re just spread across panels and pop-ups, written for people who already know what they mean. Most owners fill in a few and hope for the best.

I build the foundations into every page from day one, and when you move across, I make sure the Google rankings your old site earned come with you.

Built into every siteYour SEO foundations
  • A page title and description on every page
  • A fast site that works well on phones
  • Structured data that says you’re a place to stay
  • Descriptive text on every photo
  • Old Wix addresses redirected to the new pages
  • A sitemap, sent to Google

A booking system included

Every booking, in one calendar.

On a builder, taking bookings usually means paying for a booking system as well, like Bookalet or Lodgify, and getting the two to work together.

Every plan comes with my booking system. It pulls in your calendars from Airbnb, Booking.com and Canopy & Stars, so you can see every booking in one place. You can block off dates and set your prices by the night, with weekends and busy weeks priced higher.

A month in the booking calendar, with nights booked through Airbnb, Canopy & Stars, Booking.com and the owner’s own website all in one place, and two nights blocked off.

A local partner who knows glamping

Paying a person, not a platform.

A builder subscription goes to a huge company that makes websites for everyone, from dentists to dog groomers. Your money with me goes to a one-person business in Herefordshire.

My family owns a shepherd’s hut, so I know about changeovers, midweek gaps and guests who ask about the hot tub before anything else. You talk to me, the same person who builds and looks after your site.

The cost, side by side

Less than Wix and a booking system. None of the work.

Compared with Wix’s Core plan, the first plan up from the cheapest and the one you need to take payments, plus Bookalet Pro, a popular UK booking system that syncs with Airbnb.

That’s the saving, and you get your evenings back. Design, words, SEO, bookings and updates are all included.

See the plans

Wix UK Core plan, billed yearly, and Bookalet Pro at £189 a year plus VAT, about £19 a month, as of October 2026. Lodgify’s Starter plan, its cheapest with a booking widget, is a similar £20 a month billed yearly. Prices vary by region and billing period. The £19 plan is per property, with a one-year minimum term.

How the move works.

You keep your domain, your best content and your place on Google. Your old site stays up until the new one is ready.

  1. Look at what you have

I go through your current site, what’s working, which pages Google likes and what guests ask about most.

  2. Design and write

A design built around your place, with your best words kept and the rest rewritten. You see a preview first.

  3. Move without losing Google

Every old page address points to its new page, so the rankings and links you’ve built come with you.

  4. Go live, then cancel

Your domain moves across, the new site goes live, and only then do you cancel your builder plan.

Not on Wix?

The same goes for the other builders and booking-platform websites. I’ve written honest reviews of each if you’d like to weigh it up first.

Frequently asked questions.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I move off Wix?

Not if the move is done carefully. I list every page on your current site and redirect each old address to the matching new page, keeping titles and descriptions that already work. Rankings can wobble for a few weeks while Google catches up, then usually settle, and a faster, better-built site often does better over time.

Can I keep my domain name?

Yes. Your domain is yours. If it was registered through Wix, it can be transferred out or pointed at the new site. I’ll walk you through it and time it so there’s no gap.

Isn’t Wix cheaper?

Not once you add a booking system. Wix’s Core plan, the first that can take payments, is £16 a month in the UK, billed yearly, and a booking system like Bookalet Pro adds about £19 more. My plans start at £19 a month with a booking system included, along with the design, the words, SEO foundations and ongoing updates.

How does the booking system work with Airbnb?

It uses the calendar links that Airbnb, Booking.com and Canopy & Stars give you. Bookings from each one show up in a single calendar, and nights booked on your own site are blocked on the others. Those sites check calendar links on their own schedule, often every few hours rather than instantly, so I’ll help you set it up to keep the risk of a double booking low.

Can I keep my booking system?

Yes, if you’d rather. Every plan comes with my booking system, but the £39 and £59 plans can connect the one you already use instead, such as Lodgify, Bookalet or Freetobook. Tell me which it is and I’ll check what’s possible before we start.

What happens to my Wix subscription?

Keep it running until the new site is live and your domain has moved. Then you can cancel. Check your Wix renewal date early, as yearly plans renew automatically.

Can I still make changes myself?

You don’t need to. Basic updates are included in every plan, so you send me new photos, prices or details and I make the changes, keeping everything consistent across the site.
